Kidney Stones should be Diamonds

I was just discharged from Piedmont Hospital yesterday after spending five days battling a dreadful kidney stone!! I thank the Lord that I'm finally home, and have my wonderful Hubby and Mimi here to help me through this ordeal.

The stone is 8mm in diameter and unpassable without lithotripsy, a procedure I can't have until after little Olivia's arrival. So I had surgery on Sunday to place a stent in my left ureter to relieve the pain and allow the urine to void from my left kidney - this should prevent kidney damage. I'm still in a little discomfort from the stent, and am swollen from head to toe from all of the fluids they pumped into me (plus the pregnancy), so walking and getting comfortable are difficult pursuits, but the baby is in perfect condition and showed no signs of stress during this whole ordeal!! A blessing indeed!

Here's a lovely photograph that Rob snapped of me in the hospital, during one of the bouts of pain; so not fun.

For the agony of trying to pass this dreadful stone, it should definitely produce a diamond, not some calcium oxalate nastiness (see a sample photo of an 8mm kidney stone below - not mine).

I should be heading back to the hospital for a CT Scan and lithotripsy one week after Olivia's arrival. Hopefully that will mark the final chapter in this kidney stone's life!

I'll most likely be home on bedrest until Olivia finally makes her appearance.

New Camcorder Test

We broke down and purchased a new camcorder this weekend so that we can document Olivia's grand entrance into the world! We have 5 weeks to go until we reach our due date, so we're a bit ahead of the game, but this seems to fit right in with all the nesting and prep work we've been doing.

Here's a little test video, starring Bubba and Ski and their Mimi!

Au revoir Genevieve GTI

In preparation for Olivia's arrival (and to help our finances during my upcoming maternity leave) we officially sold my beloved GTI this weekend. I will miss her dearly, but know that she will make her new driver just as happy as she did me! I hope Genevieve enjoys her new home in SoFla with the Krisels!
