Bubba the Brave

We had a rude awakening this morning . . . at 6:30 a.m. Rob got up to let our little Pedro outside and found our beloved Bubba on the living room floor unable to walk. We immediately brought him to the animal hospital, where they suspected a disc herniation (a quite common injury for a dachshund) and sent him home with strict orders for rest and no jumping up on things. Bubba slowly recovered over the course of the morning to where he could walk again and we were ready to do whatever we could to prevent the herniation from worsening. He immediately fell asleep and rested like a champ.

Then he woke up, joined everyone in the kitchen, and started falling all over again. We also noticed that now his eyes were darting from side to side uncontrollably, and his head was slightly tilted. I lost it, and still haven't fully regained my composure . . . we returned to the vet, where they are running more tests and now suspect canine vestibular disease or a stroke as the culprit. They are keeping Bubba overnight to monitor his condition, and will be contacting us with his test results sometime tomorrow.

Please pray for our Buster!!! He is Cherub's Resident and our house is so empty without him this evening.

We love you Bubba!! Hang in there ~ you're going to get through this and we will help you every step of the way.

Olivia's First Christmas

Olivia's first Christmas was packed full of travel and celebrations and she was such a little trooper! Needless to say we have quite a few photos and videos to post for all of our beloved blog followers, so hang on to your coattails!

We kicked off the holiday season by packing up our trusty vehicle and heading down to Florida. Rob was summoned to Fort Lauderdale for a business meeting and holiday party, so Olivia and I joined him all the way to Orlando where we stayed with The Grand Mimi while Rob fulfilled his business obligations. On the road again . . .

Olivia woke up once to eat when we were 30 minutes from our destination. We were pleasantly surprised and quite relieved that the trip went off without a hitch!

While in Orlando, Olivia finally got to meet her Grandpa Guidry (aka The Grand Papi). Here are some pictures of this joyous occasion at Aunt LouLou's house:

Along with some additional photos of the family taken that same day:

Olivia also had her first official play date while we were in Orlando. Several of my hometown girlfriend's and their little ones came over to visit us for a couple of days.

And Olivia and Ethan fell in love!!! Their hand-holding was so incredibly adorable . . .

Upon our return to Atlanta, Rob and I finally put the finishing touches on our holiday decorations and the arbre de Noël. Here is the fruit of our sporadic labors:

The Reason for the Season

We finished the tree just in time for the Christmas holiday (two days before Christmas Eve to be exact). And I must give Rob credit, if it wasn't for his contributions to tree trimming it might not have gotten done.

Here are some photos from our Christmas Eve funsies:

We started a new tradition by letting Olivia select one present to open on the night before Christmas:

The selection process was very intense!

It's the GloWorm from Uncle Mike and Aunt Jodi!! Thanks so much!!

And then it was Christmas ~ a white one to boot! We were thrilled to find that it was snowing outside upon awakening on Olivia's first Christmas morning:

And Olivia was thrilled that good ol' Saint Nicolas stopped by The Schneiders!

Slumber Party!

By titling this post "Slumber Party" I am in no way referring to the typical overnight shindig with little ones staying up all night and playing practical jokes on each other (although I'm sure these are in our future). On the contrary, I'm referring to Olivia's first 8-hour slumber session (which occurred last night) and the ensuing party that Rob and I threw in celebration! We are thrilled that our little angel has reached this sleeping milestone! Hello sleep, how I've missed thee!!
